In 1990, Carey Brunel and Glenn Christie formed Property Pack, with the vision to provide all the services anyone would need when purchasing a property. They wanted to help everyone, from anxious first home buyers to astute property investors. Carey and Glenn were the first people ever to write loans for the banks from outside the banking system in New Zealand. In fact, many of the people they helped back then were only able to purchase their homes because of the work that these two did.
The systems and concepts that lenders and mortgage brokers still use today are a result of the initiatives put forward by these two founding members of our company. Both directors remain in the business today and still remain involved in the daily operational aspects of assisting brokers and generating new business as well as long term strategic planning.
From there, the company developed purely through referrals and goodwill; the key to success was a dedication to taking care of people’s needs - giving clients the high level of service they wanted and deserved. The company began to focus on the core business of mortgage broking, becoming one of the most respected and successful firms within the industry.
This reputation allowed us to build one of the most experienced firms in New Zealand, many of whom are still part of the team.
In 2002, it was decided that new initiatives and innovative concepts were required to grow the business even more. New roles were established and key personnel introduced to handle brand marketing, IT development, strategic management and special projects, such as redesigning the company’s new corporate head quarters at 30 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby, Auckland.
In early 2003, the Mortgage People™ brand name was launched, incorporating a clear description of what the company did – “mortgages” as well as highlighting both its core focus, most valuable resource and largest point of differentiation – “people”. The new feel and energy this brought to the company has helped further their ability and passion for taking care of people’s needs. The brand incorporates the core elements of freshness, innovation, professionalism and impeccable service – allowing us to ‘bend over backwards’ for our clients.
Towards the end of 2006 saw the expansion of the group to include Insurance People™; from a two person team supporting the mortgage brokers the Directors bought in specialists in their field which fully complimented our service offering and now allowed the team to truly explore and service their client’s needs.
After 20 years in business, 2009 saw the Directors start work on a special project; focusing on the future – how better could we meet our client’s needs? This has lead to the Groups key strategy for 2010 involving placing expertise within our local communities – to establish local offices to better service and educate people:

• Show people how to grow equity in their property;
• Provide direction on better money management;
• Ensure their assets, family and they are adequately protected!
